Mature Moves was a global three-day event celebrating mature dance, and challenging the conventions of aging through dance. The inaugural event ran from 23-25 September 2016 in Hobart, and includes a program of performances featuring national and international artists, and workshops and panel conversations led by industry leaders.

Mature Moves was open to dancers of all levels, teachers, and movers and shakers who wished to engage in the experiences and dialogue around mature dance.

“Of all the performing arts, dance is well known as having the most benefits on the mental and physical effects of aging, and I’ve seen this first hand through the amazing work of the Tasmanian Mature Artists Dance Experience (MADE) over the past decade. And it’s these results that have been the catalyst for launching this event”. ~ Annette Downs, Tasmania Performs Senior Producer

Mature Moves also shined a spotlight on professional dancers, who are defying the youth-centric dance culture and continuing to dance throughout their 50’s, 60’s and beyond.

Tasmania Performs is working towards a second Mature Moves event in 2018.  To stay connected sign up for our Quarterly Update HERE
